AMMAN
The National Charter (Al-Meethaq Al-Watani) Party announced the launch of its Strategic Studies and Foresight Unit, pursuant to the provisions of Article (29), Item (7), in a step aimed at cementing evidence- and knowledge-based programmatic party work and strengthening the capacity of both the party and its parliamentary bloc to develop policies and present practical solutions to national challenges.
Vice Chairman of the Central Council, Dr. Mahmoud Freihat, stated that the unit will focus on producing the necessary studies and policy papers for the operations of the party and its parliamentary bloc, as well as converting research and analytical outcomes into actionable legislative and executive recommendations, along with proposals that contribute to developing party programs, prioritizing action items, and enhancing legislative and oversight performance in response to citizens' needs and national interests.
For his part, Secretary-General of the National Charter Party, Eng. Haditheh Al-Khrisha, explained that the unit's work is organized across thirteen research tracks, comprising: Middle Class Studies; Political Studies; National Security and Defense Studies; Parliamentary Studies; Economic Studies; Education and Human Development Studies; Social Studies and Skills Development; Health and Quality of Life; Public Administration and Rule of Law Studies; Local Development and Infrastructure Studies; Transport, Roads, Railways, and Air Connectivity; Resources and Sustainability Studies; and Technology and Future Economy Studies.
Dr. Zubi Al-Zubi, Coordinator of the Unit, indicated that each research track will have a specialized team, while cross-cutting issues will be examined collaboratively across teams to ensure interdisciplinary integration and interconnected outputs. Data, public opinion polling, foresight, and policy evaluation will operate as shared functions serving all tracks through trend analysis, scenario building, impact measurement, and the evaluation of alternatives and their implications for society, the economy, and the state.
He added that the unit will connect research expertise with field-level knowledge, drawing on the party's talent pool and engaging with experts, universities, research institutions, and various societal sectors to precisely define challenges and formulate realistic responses. Furthermore, it will supply the parliamentary bloc with position papers and specialized analyses needed for debating legislation and budgets, as well as monitoring government policies and performance.
The National Charter Party emphasized that launching the unit reflects its commitment to the political modernization process and to building an institutional party life that translates programs into actionable, evaluable initiatives and working tools. The party concluded that research and foresight represent a political responsibility requiring a deep understanding of current shifts, early preparation for opportunities and risks, and the provision of well-considered options that strengthen Jordan's resilience, prosperity, and citizen quality of life under the wise Hashemite leadership.
