AMMAN
Egyptian coach Tareq Mostafa has begun evaluating his coaching future shortly after ending his tenure with Jordan's Al-Faisaly, having received an offer from a Moroccan club to assume technical leadership in the coming period.
A source revealed in exclusive statements to "Erem News" that Mostafa received an offer from a Moroccan club, marking the first official move to recruit him following his departure from Al-Faisaly. The source explained that the interested club seeks to leverage his expertise during the upcoming phase.
The source did not disclose the identity of the Moroccan club or the financial details of the offer, awaiting the Egyptian manager's stance on taking on a new campaign in the Moroccan League, where he previously left a clear mark during his time leading Olympique Safi.
Jordanian club Al-Faisaly announced on Friday evening the termination of the tenure of Tareq Mostafa and his assistant staff with the first team, following a period that witnessed winning the Jordanian Super Cup title alongside leading the local league table.
The decision came after a 3-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia's Al-Taawoun in the fourth round of the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two, a loss that complicated the team's chances of securing one of the two qualifying spots for the Round of 16.
Al-Faisaly's tally remained frozen at 3 points in third place in Group C, behind leaders Al-Taawoun with 10 points and Qatar's Al-Rayyan in second place with 9 points, after the Jordanian team suffered its third loss in four matches in the continental competition.
Continental results were not the sole source of pressure on the technical staff, as Al-Faisaly also suffered a dip in its domestic league performance in recent rounds, drawing and losing its last two matches despite retaining top spot in the competition.
Al-Faisaly announced in an official statement its appreciation to Tareq Mostafa and his assistants, Amir Mohammad and Essam Ahmed, praising their efforts during their tenure, which included capturing the Jordanian Super Cup title.
The club also announced the signing of Portuguese manager João Mota to take over technical leadership of the team, succeeding the Egyptian coach, as part of management's efforts to return the team to winning ways.
Tareq Mostafa holds strong prestige within Moroccan football following his distinguished stint with Olympique Safi, where he succeeded in turning the team into one of the major surprises of the Moroccan League during his leadership.
The Egyptian coach led the team to finish the 2022-2023 season in fourth place in the Moroccan League standings with 47 points, achieving 12 victories, 11 draws, and 7 defeats—an achievement that boosted his coaching reputation in Morocco.
Mostafa took charge of Al-Faisaly at the start of the current season and successfully secured the Jordanian Super Cup title after defeating Al-Wehdat in the semifinals and overcoming Al-Hussein Irbid in the final.
He also maintained top spot in the Jordanian League after 7 rounds, collecting 14 points, despite the team's recent setbacks of a draw and a loss in its last two matches.
Al-Faisaly is preparing to face Shabab Al-Aqaba in the eighth round of the league, seeking to restore victories and maintain its lead at the top of the table.
