Islamists and Hidden Understandings .. What Is Happening Under the Table?

AMMAN
To be fair, the Ummah Party and the Islamic current in the House of Representatives are not a marginal figure in the political equation; they possess parliamentary experience, an ability to read the scene, manage contradictions, and seize opportunities. Furthermore, His Excellency Saleh Al-Armouti is a parliamentary figure with a rich history, deep respect, and undeniable positions.
However, fairness does not mean silence, and respect does not negate the right to question. What took place during the elections of the Permanent Bureau opens wide doors to question marks: Were there unannounced understandings with the government? Was the position of Assistant to the Speaker a parliamentary entitlement or part of a broader political settlement? Most importantly, did the Social Security Law enter into the calculations of these understandings, or did the Islamists' position remain independent of office calculations?
We do not accuse or assert the existence of a deal, but we are facing a scene where some details remain ambiguous. It is the public's right to know what is happening behind the table, rather than being content with what is declared above it.
The True Cost of Positions
Whoever raises the banner of democracy should not be annoyed by people's questions, and whoever demands transparency from others must be the first to commit to it. We are not against negotiation, consensus, or participation, but we are against positions turning into bargaining chips and people's issues becoming part of the calculations of distributing offices.
A chair may grant its holder a position and influence for a parliamentary term, but it must not come at the expense of the people's future. A chair ends with the conclusion of the term, whereas the Social Security Law extends its impact to the livelihoods, savings, social security, and future of entire generations of Jordanians. This is the fundamental difference between a temporary political gain and a long-term national trust. If there is a political price for this chair, the citizen must not pay it out of their rights and their children's future.
A Call for Transparency
Hence, we call upon His Excellency Saleh Al-Armouti and the leadership of the Ummah Party to be frank with the public, clarify the truth behind the understandings that preceded the Permanent Bureau elections, and dispel doubts regarding any potential link between the distribution of positions and the stance on the Social Security Law.
The public does not want justifications for a chair; they want an answer that reassures them their future was not a subject of bargaining. Politics may accommodate maneuvering, but the rights of Jordanians are greater than positions, and the future of the homeland is not a bargaining chip in a bazaar of political understandings.

By: Dr. Laith Abdullah Al-Quhaiwi / Rum News Agency AMMAN A state may possess the funds to purchase what it needs, yet it does not always hold the guarantee of its delivery. It may manufacture a commodity, yet it does not necessarily dictate the terms of its entry into markets. Standing between the capacity to produce and the freedom of access is a complex web of corridors, technology, finance, and standards—wherein economic interests intertwine with security and political calculations. In a world of intensifying competition over these networks, the question is no longer merely who owns the
