Yara Hossam Hassan, daughter of former Egyptian national football team head coach Hossam Hassan, commented on the decision to dismiss her father from coaching the "Pharaohs" through a concise message featuring Quranic verses.
Yara's comment came following the announcement by the Egyptian Football Association, headed by Hany Abou Rida, ending Hossam Hassan's tenure at the helm of the senior team and appointing Ali Maher as the new head coach—a decision that sparked widespread reaction across Egyptian sports circles.
On Saturday evening, Yara Hossam Hassan posted two verses from Surah Ibrahim (42 and 43) on her official Facebook account without further elaboration: "And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them until a Day when eyes will stare [in horror]. Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void."
The post drew significant attention from followers as the first public comment from Hossam Hassan's family following the announcement of his departure, amidst ongoing questions regarding the background of the dismissal decision and its impact on the outgoing technical staff.
This managerial change comes ahead of Egypt's upcoming encounters against Malawi in the third and fourth rounds of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, as the "Pharaohs" prepare to enter a closed training camp during November.
Cairo International Stadium is scheduled to host the first leg on November 13 at 9:00 PM Cairo time, while the return fixture will take place on November 17 at Bingu International Stadium in Malawi at 3:00 PM local time.
