The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) and the Royal Air Force Technical University College for Aviation Sciences signed a strategic cooperation agreement to enhance Jordan's position as a regional hub for specialized technical education and training, while attracting international students, trainees, and academic delegations to diversify the national tourism product and strengthen economic returns.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Imad Hijazin, Director of Air Force Training Brigadier General Pilot Hatem Mohammad Asbeih, and JTB Official Spokesperson and Board Member Hani Al-Dabbas. The document was executed by JTB Director General Ramzi Al-Maaytah and College Dean Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasser Al-Khawaldeh.
Scope and Objectives of the Agreement
The five-year agreement encompasses the development of joint marketing and promotional initiatives to highlight specialized academic and training programs in aviation sciences and aircraft maintenance. It aims to recruit international delegations and students, integrate education and training with cultural and archaeological tours, organize specialized conferences and workshops, and launch short-term educational visits targeted at foreign markets.
JTB Spokesperson Hani Al-Dabbas stated that the agreement reflects a strategic shift in tourism promotion—transitioning from traditional destination marketing to exporting knowledge and positioning national educational institutions as sustainable economic products. He emphasized that educational tourism represents a high-value market characterized by extended lengths of stay, diverse spending channels, and year-round demand.
Al-Dabbas added that the upcoming phase will focus on embedding specialized educational programs into the international tourism marketing framework, utilizing digital platforms and institutional partnerships to reach target markets, and translating Jordan's competitive edge in training into tangible economic opportunities.
Under the agreement, a joint working committee will be established to draft operational plans, identify target markets, monitor initiative implementation, and measure outcomes to ensure integration between the education and tourism sectors.
