AMMAN
Arab Potash Company (APC) and its subsidiary, APC Trading & Logistics Europe AG, have signed a strategic handling and storage agreement with the Belgian group Euroports. The agreement, with an initial duration of three years renewable, aims to support the storage, distribution, and re-export of APC products across Northwest European markets.
Under the terms of the agreement, a dedicated storage capacity of approximately 60,000 metric tons will be allocated to Arab Potash Company within Euroports' new warehouse project currently under construction at the Port of Antwerp in Belgium. Scheduled for completion in January 2027, the project positions APC as a primary partner.
The agreement allows APC to maintain localized inventory near its customer base, enhancing supply continuity, market responsiveness, and delivery flexibility via smaller vessels, river barges, and trucks to reach a broader segment of European clients.
Leadership Statements on Market Expansion
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Arab Potash Company, Eng. Shehadah Abu Hdaib, stated that the agreement marks a crucial strategic step toward consolidating the company’s long-term presence in the European market and cementing the position of Jordanian potash in one of the world's most demanding agricultural markets.
Eng. Abu Hdaib explained that securing reliable logistical infrastructure in Belgium underpins the company's competitiveness and long-term value creation, reinforcing its contribution to Jordan's national economy.
Chief Executive Officer of Arab Potash Company, Dr. Maen Nsour, highlighted that the agreement supports APC's growth strategy and market diversification. He noted that it builds upon a three-year operational cooperation with Euroports, transitioning the partnership into a long-term structure that supports European business planning.
Dr. Nsour added that expanding commercial and logistical capabilities in target markets complements APC's production expansion plans, ensuring supply chain readiness to handle projected output increases.
Operational Role and Port Logistics Context
APC Trading & Logistics Europe AG—the commercial and logistical arm of APC in Europe—will manage inventory, oversee daily storage, handling, distribution, and re-export operations, and handle operational coordination with Euroports.
Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial and Operations Officer at APC Trading & Logistics Europe AG, Eng. Rasheed Al-Loubani, noted that maintaining a direct presence near clients enables a deeper understanding of market needs and allows the company to tailor commercial and logistical solutions accordingly.
Euroports operates over 50 port terminals across Europe, handling more than 70 million metric tons of bulk and breakbulk cargo annually.
Recently, the global Danish group A.P. Moller entered into an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Euroports. A.P. Moller is a leading international shipping and port terminal operator that also operates the Aqaba Container Terminal in Jordan.
The agreement falls within APC's broader initiatives to upgrade its global commercial and logistics network, directly linking production expansion targets with specialized storage and distribution capacity worldwide.
