The representative of Saudi Arabia in the Fourth United Nations Committee on Special Political Issues and Decolonization confirmed, in a statement on behalf of the Arab Group last night, that the Palestinian refugee issue is the core of the Palestinian issue.
The group, which was discussing the mandate of the UNRWA, affirmed its adherence to the "inalienable and inalienable right of generations of Palestinian refugees and their descendants to return to their homes," stressing Israel's legal, political and moral responsibility for the emergence and continuation of the Palestinian refugee problem and rejecting its miserable attempts to distort the cause refugees and compromising their legal registration.
The Arab Group expressed its support, especially for the countries hosting Palestinian refugees, and to provide the elements of steadfastness and a decent life for them until a just solution to their issue is found, declaring its rejection and condemnation of what it described as the systematic Israeli attempts against UNRWA, "including seeking to close and obstruct its services in the city of Jerusalem and replace it with institutions Israeli occupation, especially in the field of education and curricula.
The Arab Group called on all countries and donors to provide more financial support to UNRWA in order to enable it to perform its humanitarian tasks and its mandate given to it by the General Assembly.
