Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the star of Al-Nasr, confirmed his desire to continue playing until an advanced age after achieving a new achievement at the level of matches.
Ronaldo scored a goal that led Al-Nasr to beat its neighbor, Riyadh, 4-1, at Al-Awal Park Stadium this Friday evening, in the 16th round of the Saudi Roshen Professional League.
Ronaldo, who strengthened his lead in the Saudi League's top scorers' table with 16 goals, played his 1,200th match in all tournaments with clubs and the Portuguese national team.
Ronaldo wrote on his Facebook account after the match: “3 new points... Thank you to my teammates who helped me reach the 1,200th match.”
“What a journey it has been, but it is not over yet,” the 38-year-old added.
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Ronaldo participated in 31 matches with Sporting Lisbon, 346 with Manchester United, 438 with Real Madrid, 134 with Juventus, and 46 since joining Al-Nasr, in addition to 205 matches with the Portuguese national team.
Ronaldo's matches came during a long 22-year career, which began on August 14, 2002 with a Sporting Lisbon shirt.
Ronaldo is the fifth player in history to participate in most matches, after the English quartet Peter Shilton (1,375), Paul Basstock (1,286), the Brazilian Rogerio Ceni (1,237), and Fabio (1,212).
