The former minister, the poet Haider Mahmoud, was a guest on the “This is Me with Rum” program, presented by our colleague Abdulaziz Al-Khalidi, in the second episode of the program, which is shown on the Rum and Al-Shahed Media Group platforms during the holy month.
Our dear guest began his speech on the “This is Me with Rum” program by saying: He describes himself as “he lives and does not say I live in the hope that something better will come.” Haider Mahmoud said that he is a fan of constant change and many things that he wishes to change in his life. He continued, “I regret small things, but there are no big things that I regret, and there are big things that I do not regret.” He added, “Poets are the people whose conscience is most awakened.”
Haidar Mahmoud pointed out that there were many people who approached him for certain purposes and then left, and they were truly many, and he says to them, “Today, may God forgive you.”
Haidar Mahmoud added that he loves the city of Salt, as it is the Jordanian city of cities and the origin of the Jordanian cities. It is the first city in Jordan and it included the first educational and pedagogical institutions in Jordan. It is a city that includes all sects from the East and West and contains everyone who lives there and calls them sultans.
Regarding the poems closest to his heart, he said that it is the poem with which he sharpened the stones. He continued everything I wrote about the homeland, which I wrote with more love. “I am against the poetry of the Marajda.”
Haider Mahmoud believes that the poet Ali Al-Faouri is one of the very promising young men in the field of poetry. He added that my relationship with the Jordanian poets is excellent, so I visit them and they visit him.
Haider Mahmoud believes that friendships today are destinies, citing the saying, “There is no brother whom your mother did not give birth to.” He pointed out that he
trusts many of his friends, but he does not reveal his private secrets to anyone. He chose “A Mountain Journey” as an appropriate title for his life story as a reference to the difficult stages of his life.
He added, “I welcomed them.” With the artist Magda Al Roumi singing a number of my poems, she is the daughter of Halim Al Roumi, and I have known her father since he was on the Jordanian radio, and Magda sang more than one song for me about Jordan and King Hussein, may God rest his soul.
Haider Mahmoud said that King Hussein forgave many of my sins, and my sin was forgiven and overlooked.
