Aqaba, March 18, 2024: As part of its efforts to preserve the environment, and within its programs and initiatives to manage sustainability; Zain Jordan recently organized, in cooperation with the “ProjectSea” initiative, which is based on a group of Jordanian professional divers and volunteers: A new campaign to clean up the Red Sea for the second time, to contribute to protecting marine life and coral reefs that characterize the Gulf of Aqaba, and reducing pollution.
This campaign was implemented under the auspices of the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority. Naif Al-Fayez, with the participation of a group of divers and volunteers, about 80 kg of waste sunk in the depths of the Red Sea were extracted.
Zain’s support for this initiative comes within the framework of its keenness to participate in all environmental initiatives organized in the Kingdom, to raise environmental awareness among individuals, and reduce irresponsible behaviors that negatively affect the environment. This cooperation also comes from Zain to contribute to providing a marine environment. Suitable for local and foreign tourists who go to the city of Aqaba for the purposes of diving and marine activities, in addition to supporting all efforts to contribute to choosing Aqaba as a global tourist destination.
It is noteworthy that the “ProjectSea” initiative was launched in 2021, and was founded by Saif Al-Madanat and Bisan Al-Sharif. This initiative has so far organized 32 cleaning campaigns for the Red Sea, in which more than 400 volunteers from 44 different nationalities participated. Since its launch, this initiative has also contributed to the extraction of 157 One thousand pieces of waste weighing more than 9 tons, most of which are plastic waste. This initiative seeks to contribute to reducing the danger of plastic waste to the marine environment, which takes decades to decompose, in addition to spreading awareness about the dangers of throwing waste on the beaches and the sea.
