His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, held a meeting in the city of Aqaba, today, Wednesday, during which they stressed the need to maintain Arab coordination in order to enhance fraternal solidarity and support joint Arab action.
Their Majesties stressed the importance of the upcoming Arab summit in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in light of the current circumstances in the region.
His Majesty the King, in the presence of His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince, and His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty King Hamad for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in organizing the upcoming summit.
The meeting dealt with the fraternal relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, as their Majesties expressed their pride in the level of established historical relations between Jordan and Bahrain, and their keenness to build on them to consolidate cooperation mechanisms in various fields and achieve economic integration.
His Majesty King Hamad congratulated His Majesty on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of his assumption of his constitutional powers, praising the development achievements and stability that Jordan enjoys under the wise leadership of His Majesty.
His Majesty the King also congratulated his brother, His Majesty King Hamad, on the twenty-fifth anniversary of his accession to the throne, praising His Majesty’s efforts in promoting the process of progress and development in the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, and achieving prosperity for the dear Bahraini people.
Their Majesties discussed the developments taking place in the region, as His Majesty King Hamad praised Jordan's active role in efforts to achieve peace and support Arab and Islamic issues, most notably the Palestinian issue, and support for the Palestinian brothers.
Their Majesties stressed the urgent need for the international community, especially the Security Council, to implement immediate ceasefire resolutions in Gaza.
Their Majesties stressed the need to protect civilians, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid by all possible means, and prevent further escalation, expressing their rejection of anything that leads to the expansion of the war or ground attacks on Rafah, or the displacement of Palestinians from their lands.
Their Majesties also stressed the importance of reducing tensions in the Middle East, avoiding military escalation, finding just, comprehensive and sustainable peaceful solutions to conflicts in the region, and coordinating efforts to combat terrorism and prevent its financing.
Their Majesties reiterated the need to respect the historical and legal status in the city of Jerusalem, and to stop Israeli violations of the holy places in Jerusalem.
His Majesty King Hamad stressed the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Their Majesties warned of the hostile actions carried out by extremist settlers against the Palestinians in the West Bank, and they also condemned the construction of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories as a violation of international law.
Their Majesties stressed the need to unify Arab and international efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region, and to support the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-state solution, and in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, Director of His Majesty the King's Office, Dr. Jaafar Hassan, Director of General Intelligence, Major General Ahmed Hosni, and the Bahraini delegation accompanying His Majesty King Hamad, which includes a number of senior officials.
His Majesty the King and His Highness the Crown Prince welcomed and bid farewell to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba.
