The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, will meet with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Amman on Tuesday.
Blinken’s visit, his seventh to the region, is part of efforts to achieve an immediate and complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to end the war, ensuring the protection of civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law, and addressing the risks of the Israeli occupation’s attack on the city of Rafah in the southern part of the Strip.
The discussions will also cover mechanisms to lift all restrictions that hinder the entry of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, ensuring that the humanitarian crisis does not worsen.
Jordan has reaffirmed its international recognition of the Palestinian state, which fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent and sovereign state along the June 4, 1967, lines, and to take irreversible steps to implement the two-state solution, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
Safadi emphasized during a dialogue session on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum held in Saudi Arabia that everyone wants peace based on the two-state solution and that Israel must declare its commitment to a just and comprehensive peace. The international community agrees that the only way to ensure security and peace is through the two-state solution.
Blinken will also meet with Sigrid Kaag, the senior coordinator for humanitarian affairs and reconstruction in Gaza.
Safadi participated on Monday in the six-party ministerial consultative meeting with the United States in Saudi Arabia to discuss the developments of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
