Continuing its role and efforts towards establishing the Kingdom as a global destination for esports and electronic games, and supporting the growing esports ecosystem, as well as enhancing the growth and sustainability of the sector which is considered one of the most creative and fastest-growing; Zain Jordan, through its Zain eSports Jo center, sponsored the 12th edition of the Future of Esports Conference as a strategic partner.
The conference, which concluded its activities in Aqaba yesterday, Sunday, was patronized by His Majesty King Abdullah II and organized by the Electronic Games Lab - one of the projects of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development - in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and several partners.
The conference was attended by more than 1,500 participants and featured an updated edition this year that included many preliminary events specifically addressing the esports industry, which began on April 20th, held in Umm Qais, Amman, Petra, and finally concluded in Aqaba. The conference also included sessions for specialists and professional players in the field of games and esports from various countries around the world.
The conference, which carried the slogan “From North to South,” focused on the esports industry, its developments, and the opportunities to benefit from it, aiming to make Jordan a regional hub for it. It featured a wide range of activities and joint sessions, providing an opportunity for all interested parties to learn more about the world of game manufacturing within and outside the region, with the participation of 15 local and international experts and specialists in the esports industry.
Zain Jordan highlighted that its support and participation in the conference through its esports center, established in 2020, falls within its strategy aimed at supporting various developmental and vital sectors; especially the promising esports and electronic games sector, to contribute to efforts making the Kingdom a center for manufacturing and developing electronic games in the region, placing the Kingdom on the map of the most advanced countries in this field, and enhancing Jordan’s representation in regional and international esports tournaments.
The company is keen on nurturing Jordanian talent, developing players’ skills, organizing events related to esports and electronic games with the aim of elevating the sector to achieve tangible results that contribute to the national economy as one of the creative sectors, increasing job opportunities, enhancing the creativity of Jordanian youth, and nurturing and exporting talents of the future. The company provides everything necessary for amateurs and professionals of esports and electronic games, such as ideal infrastructure, high-speed internet, and all the solutions and tools needed to support their journey, develop their talents, and expand them to reach a global level.
On the sidelines of the conference, Zain Jordan organized several events in the pavilion of its Zain eSports Jo center, showcasing the development of electronic games, in addition to presenting information and facts about games and esports throughout history, and holding competitions and challenges among the attendees.
Given the continuous growth and development of the electronic games sector and the significant interest from the youth; since the establishment of its esports center in 2020, Zain has been supporting the esports and electronic games sector by forming strategic partnerships with leading institutions specialized in developing the electronic games industry, such as “Mays Al Ward” company. The company, through its esports center, contributes to training a new generation of professional Jordanian players in this vital sector and enhancing their competitiveness on regional and international levels, through workshops and educational sessions on developing the electronic games industry, its future opportunities, and its nature. This sector now provides a sustainable income for game professionals, which will undoubtedly reflect on their living standards and equally contribute to the national economy.
It is worth mentioning that since the establishment of its esports center, Zain Jordan has supported this sector by embracing professional players and holding esports tournaments that have been followed by millions on social media platforms, in addition to conducting training workshops to benefit talented youth and develop their skills, in partnership with “Mays Al Ward” company specialized in manufacturing and developing games, and forming partnerships with major local and international companies. Zain Jordan, through its esports center, also supported the Esports Academy launched by “Mays Al Ward” and “Ibmedia,” which aims to nurture and develop Jordanian talents.
