The Ministry of Education intends to conduct a national test to control the quality of education for fourth-grade students on the upcoming Tuesday, the seventh of May. According to a statement from the ministry, this test aims to provide objective data related to the mastery levels of fourth-grade students in the core learning domains and skills, and their specific outcomes, in the subjects of Arabic and English languages, mathematics, and science. It also aims to provide data on student performance levels, indicated by performance indicators, and student performance levels on knowledge economy skills.
The statement pointed out that this national test is applied annually, according to a regular plan, and alternately on one of the targeted grades, which are the fourth, eighth, and tenth. It is one of the tests that the ministry has been conducting for many years to control the quality of education and measure cognitive skills across different grades. Through it, the ministry aims to provide decision-makers with information about the quality of education, assist in making appropriate development decisions, and provide teachers with information about the strengths and weaknesses in their students’ performance. It also helps in monitoring students, determining their progress path, and improving their learning, as well as highlighting the aspects that should be focused on in the curricula during the teaching process, especially those aspects and skills that the analysis results showed the students performed weakly in.
The ministry aims to apply the exam to provide a very important database for assessing the overall accumulation of knowledge among students.
Following this test, the ministry will later issue a general and detailed statistical report on student results, including performance levels of directorates at the kingdom level, performance levels of schools at the directorate level, as well as student performance levels at the school and directorate levels, and recommendations for those involved in the educational field, in light of the test results.
