Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed efforts to stop the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the Israeli attack on Rafah.
In a phone call, the ministers discussed the assault by Israeli extremists on the Jordanian aid convoy that was headed to Gaza through the Beit Hanoun/Erez crossing, where Safadi emphasized the need for the international community to condemn the attack as a heinous crime and held Israel fully responsible for it.
Blinken strongly condemned the violent attack carried out by Israeli extremists on the convoy with the aim of preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. He reaffirmed that the United States expects the Israeli government to take full and appropriate measures to prevent such attacks on aid convoys and to hold the perpetrators accountable.
Blinken also appreciated the leading role of the Kingdom in delivering the necessary humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The ministers also discussed efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire deal, the release of detainees, and preventing the war from expanding regionally. They emphasized the necessity of uniting all efforts to make the mediation efforts successful, which are being carried out by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to complete the exchange deal and achieve a ceasefire.
Safadi warned of the catastrophic consequences of the Israeli attack on Rafah and the prevention of aid entry through the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings.
The ministers affirmed the continued cooperation between the two countries in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
