Asma al-Assad, wife of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, took to X to declare that she has always remained silent on political matters and will continue to do so.
Her account was revealed by her son, Hafez al-Assad, via Telegram after he locked his own X profile. “I’m announcing my mother’s account on X. It will stay away from politics and focus on sharing different aspects of her life and humanitarian work,” he wrote.
In her posts, Asma al-Assad reflected on the past and hinted at sharing personal experiences: “Every event has its versions, and every stage has its secrets. The goal is not to spark controversy but to tell the story as it was—without tension or accusations. What remained in the shadows, it’s time to reveal.”
She also expressed hope for Syria’s future: “Syria, with all its beauty and rich history, remains in our hearts. We wish its people safety and prosperity, and may the joyful days return to every corner of its land.”
While maintaining her political neutrality, she emphasized resilience: “No matter the challenges, determination always prevails. Together, we face the future with persistence and hope.”
Ending with a reflective note, she asked: “There are moments in life that never fade, etched in memory with all their details… Is it time to share them?”
