Complaints of private sector teachers continue to encroach on their rights at the end of each academic year by forcing them to resign, provided that their contracts are renewed at the beginning of the new academic year without an umbrella to protect them during the summer vacation, and between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor their rights remain suspended
The head of the Syndicate of Owners of Private Schools, Munz Al-Sourani, said in a statement to "Rum" that there are contracts that are signed between the school administration and the teachers.
He added that if the school wishes to renew the contract in the second year, the contract must be from the first of July until the 30th of June.
Sourani pointed out that schools do not have the right to dismiss teachers or terminate the contract during the school year, but they do have the right to issue a decision to renew or terminate the contract in the event of the contract expiring, stressing that it is not permissible to force the employee to terminate the contract.
The Ministry of Labor revealed, in a statement to Rum News Agency, that it had received 61 complaints on the protection platform from teachers in the private sector, the subject of which was (forced to resign / the education sector).
She added that the complaint is received through a protection platform and is followed up by labor inspectors, and in the event that the complaint is not resolved, the Ministry takes legal measures against the violating establishment.
She emphasized that the ministry is implementing plans for inspection visits on specific sectors, including the education sector, and all articles of the law are inspected, and legal measures are taken for the violating facility.
The Ministry of Labor pointed out that it does not fall within its competence to follow up on teachers' withdrawal from social security during the summer vacation, as it is within the competence of social security.
While the Ministry referred to Article 21 of the Jordanian Labor Law, “The work contract ends in any of the following cases: If the term of the work contract expires or the work itself ends.” And Article 28 of the Jordanian Labor Law stipulates that the employer may dismiss the worker without notice in cases mentioned in the law.
