The Ministry of Health closed 13 medical and health institutions, warned 32 others, and notified 12 institutions for committing critical negative violations, while 13 were transferred to the Public Prosecutor, during the month of May, according to the Director of the Professions and Institutions Licensing Directorate at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Amin Maaytah.
Al-Maaytah said that the closure is temporary until the violations committed are corrected, explaining that among the medical and health institutions that were closed, two institutions were reopened after their conditions were corrected. Penalties for violators vary, starting from notification to warning, to closing the health institution and referring it to the Public Prosecutor, according to the type and nature of the violation committed. Al-Maaytah indicated that the closure decisions depend on the size and type of the violation, in terms of closing the medical or health institution and referring it to the Public Prosecutor, while the warning is issued to the medical or health institution that commits non-critical violations, but does not necessitate its closure.
Most of the inspections conducted by the Ministry of Health took place between May 1 and June 1.
In addition, 22 general medical and dental centers and specialty clinics were warned, in addition to notifying 6 others, closing 7, and referring 7 to the Public Prosecutor.
Al-Maaita revealed that the inspection staff in the directorate received about 80 complaints, treatment and hospital files, in addition to carrying out 25 field visits, as well as addressing and following up 50 complaints to hospitals.
He confirmed that the Ministry has reopened 6 medical and health institutions and corrected their conditions, including 6 medical laboratories and a general medicine center.
Maaytah stressed that the ministry follows up health and medical institutions to ensure their compliance with the licensing system and the regulations and instructions related to the Public Health Law. Among the closures, 3 skin care centers were closed due to serious violations, a physiotherapy center and a nutrition center.
Al-Maaytah said that 7 medical laboratories and a physiotherapy center were referred to the Public Prosecutor, in addition to 7 specialized centers and clinics for violating the Public Health Law.
