The Saudi Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the 2026 Hajj season is entirely free from any epidemic outbreaks or major health threats affecting public health. The ministry confirmed that the health status of the pilgrims remained stable throughout the season, despite the global epidemiological challenges and health developments recorded recently.
The ministry explained that this announcement follows the overall success of this year's Hajj season across various levels. It noted that the healthcare system maintained high levels of readiness, monitoring, and preparedness to guarantee the safety of the pilgrims, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Saudi Minister of Health, Fahad Al-Jalajel, stated that keeping the season free of epidemic outbreaks reflects the care given by the Saudi leadership toward the health of the pilgrims. He added that it underscores the efficiency of the healthcare sector and its ability to integrate with various government entities to ensure a safe and healthy Hajj season.
The ministry pointed out that the Hajj season coincided with international health developments, including Ebola outbreaks in some countries and reported cases linked to the Hanta virus. This required intensified epidemiological surveillance and increased readiness to respond to potential risks, with the ministry confirming that no suspected or confirmed cases of these diseases were recorded among the pilgrims.
The Saudi Ministry of Health emphasized that its preventive, curative, emergency, and awareness services were operational around the clock in coordination with all participating authorities, enabling pilgrims to perform their rituals in a healthy and safe environment.
