Coinciding with the Kingdom's celebrations of the 80th Independence Day, His Majesty King Abdullah II visited the Arab Potash Company's factories in the Ghor Al-Safi area, where he inaugurated several major strategic and expansion projects for the company, totaling an investment of 75 million dinars. During the visit, His Majesty inspected two new projects: the solar carnallite pans expansion project, aimed at increasing production capacity by 35,000 tons annually, and the new steam and electricity power plant. His Majesty highlighted the importance of both projects and stressed the necessity of building upon the achievements of the Arab Potash Company.
Upon his arrival at the factories, His Majesty was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Engineer Shehahdeh Abu Hdeib, CEO Dr. Maen Nsour, and members of the executive management. The King listened to a comprehensive briefing on the new projects, which aim to enhance operational efficiency, secure sustainable energy sources, and boost the company's production capacity to keep pace with growing global demand for potash. This new package of projects complements the major investment and expansion systems previously executed by the company and inaugurated by His Majesty in 2024, reflecting the company's continuous expansion and reinforcing its position as a key economic driver in the Kingdom.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Engineer Shehahdeh Abu Hdeib, expressed deep pride in the continuous royal support, emphasizing that His Majesty's inauguration of these strategic projects concurrently with the 80th Independence Day represents a significant national milestone and a strong motivation to continue achievements. He stressed that the projects reflect a qualitative shift in the company's production capabilities and embody its absolute commitment to the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision by boosting the mining sector's contribution to the GDP, supporting the state treasury and balance of payments, providing quality job opportunities for Jordanian talents, and consolidating national mining and fertilizer industries as strategic partners in global food security.
For his part, CEO Dr. Maen Nsour stated that the projects inaugurated by His Majesty mark a new strategic station in the growth and expansion journey executed by the company. He pointed out that the new steam and electricity power plant project, built at a cost of 58 million dinars, is a vital project supporting industrial expansion plans, as it will enhance energy efficiency, improve operational reliability, and lower long-term operational costs.
Dr. Nsour added that the solar pans expansion project, executed by local contractors at a cost of 17 million dinars, expands the solar evaporation pans by an additional 1.6 square kilometers to raise the company's potash production capacity by 35,000 tons annually. He noted that this project carries a strategic dimension that goes beyond production expansion to enhancing the sustainability and management efficiency of water resources through advanced engineering solutions for water recycling and reuse in production processes according to international environmental practices. The Arab Potash Company is recognized as a major contributor to the country's macroeconomy by supporting exports, supplying the banking system with foreign currencies, making direct payments to the state treasury, and creating direct and indirect employment opportunities.
