A delegation from the Senate participated in the International Solidarity Meeting with the Workers and People of Palestine and the Other Occupied Arab Territories.

The delegation, headed by Senator Issa Murad, Chair of the Senate’s Labor and Social Development Committee, and comprising Senators Sharhabil Madi and Naseema Al-Fakheri, took part in the event on the sidelines of the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference being held in Geneva.

According to a Senate statement, the delegation attended the forum alongside Jordan’s official delegation, which includes representatives of the three production partners government, employers and workers as well as Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Akram Al-Harahsheh.

The meeting opened with the announcement of the voting results concerning the continuation of the State of Palestine’s representation as an observer member at the International Labour Organization, despite objections from some countries.

The resolution received overwhelming support from member states, underscoring international backing for strengthening Palestine’s participation in the organization’s work and reinforcing its presence in international forums.

The Jordanian delegation reaffirmed the Kingdom’s consistent and steadfast position, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to freedom and the establishment of an independent state on their national territory in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

The delegation stressed the importance of continuing international efforts to protect the rights of Palestinian workers and strengthen their resilience in the face of economic and humanitarian challenges. It also emphasized the need to provide a safe and dignified working environment that guarantees social justice and safeguards workers’ fundamental rights.

The Jordanian delegation renewed its full support for the effective participation of the State of Palestine in the International Labour Organization and for all efforts aimed at achieving justice, peace and stability in the region in a manner that upholds the rights of peoples and human dignity.
