The Minister of Culture, Haifa Al-Najjar, sponsored, in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Culture and the Lebanese Minister of Culture, this morning, Thursday, the opening of the cultural program of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, in the conference hall of the Royal Cultural Center, in the presence of the opening, honored Arab cultural and artistic figures, and prizes were distributed to the winners of the award. Suleiman Al-Mashini for the Best Poetry Book of the Year, and the winner of the Popular Literature Award.
The inauguration also witnessed a poetic evening with the participation of poets: Salah Abu Lawi, Zuhair Abu Shayeb, Ahmed Al-Shahawi from Egypt, and Tawfiq Ahmed from Syria, while they were presented by Dr. Zuhair Tawfiq.
While at six o’clock in the evening, in the same place, an evening will be held in which the poets: Ayser Radwan, Ihab Al-Shalabi, Jamal Al-Qasim and Sameh Mahjoub from Egypt, and Magda Dagher from Lebanon, will be presented by the critic Muhammad Al-Mashaikh. While the activities of the cultural program continue in a number of governorates in the Kingdom, where poetry and story evenings and intellectual seminars will be held, with the participation of more than 200 Jordanian and Arab poets and writers, in addition to the participation of an Italian poet for the first time, as the festival held a permanent partnership with the most prominent cultural institutions in Jordan and the Arab world, and in Introduction: Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, the Jordanian Writers Association, the Jordanian Writers Union, the Association of Fine Artists, and a group of other cultural bodies.
The third critical conference / the axis of popular literature
This year, the festival organizes the third critical conference, which deals with the theme of popular literature, at the Royal Cultural Centre. Muhammad Wasif, and Dr. Ahmed Sharif Al-Zoubi, and the artist Nasr Al-Zoubi, while its media vocabulary is managed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib. On the same day, a session of “Popular Proverbs” will be held, with the participation of researcher Ayed Abu Farda and researcher Nawal Al-Hardan, while the vocabulary of the session will be moderated by Dr. Ismail Saudi.
The third session of the conference will be held next Sunday, entitled "Popular Tales", with the participation of the researcher and writer Nayef Al-Nawaisa, and the writer Hashem Gharaibeh, while the vocabulary of the session will be moderated by the writer Muhammad Samhan. On the same day, the fourth session of the conference will be held under the title “Popular Poetry.” Dr. Atallah Al-Hajaya, and the writer Hassan Naji, while the vocabulary of the session was moderated by the writer Muhammad Salam Jumaan.
Nduta: “Media and Jerusalem” and “The Concept of Drama…”
The festival will hold two important seminars, the first of which will be held at the Royal Cultural Center, next Tuesday, entitled: “Media and Jerusalem”, in which former minister and Lebanese journalist George Qirdahi, Egyptian journalist Mahmoud Saad, and Jordanian journalist Dr. Hani El Badry. The second will be held at the Abdul Hameed Shoman Forum, entitled: “The Concept of Drama and the Importance of Conveying Living Reality to the Audience,” next Wednesday, with Arab participation by scriptwriter and writer Dr. Medhat El-Adl, the Syndicate of Egyptian Artists Dr. Ashraf Zaki, Kuwaiti artist and producer Hoda Hussein, and Syrian artist and director Abed Fahd. And the Jordanian Artists Syndicate, Muhammad Youssef Al-Abadi.
"Fine Art Symposium"
The festival is also organized at the site of the archaeological city in Jerash, “Fine Art Symposium”, with local, Arab and international participation of more than 42 plastic artists, as well as a Jerash Children’s Symposium “in every house of an artist” to serve the creative people of the local community of Jerash Governorate. The festival also hosts 10 Lebanese plastic artists, over 70 years of age, and plastic art amateurs, to hold an exhibition for them, and the “Fragrance of Art Forum” that will be organized at the Royal Cultural Center, with the participation of creative blind children, in addition to the relevant “Bashayer Jerash” program. By highlighting talents in the fields of: singing, poetry, story, formation, photography and cinema.
Events in a number of Jordanian cities
The festival’s activities extend across more than one Jordanian city. In addition to the activities that will be held in the ancient city of Jerash, the capital, Amman, will host a group of cultural and artistic events in the theaters of the Royal Cultural Centre. The Roman Odeon Theater in the center of the country will also host a group of artistic evenings, and poetry evenings will be held. And nonfiction in the Abdel Hamid Shoman Forum, the Jordanian Writers Association, the Jordanian Writers and Writers Union, the National Library Department, and the University of Jordan. The cities: Irbid, Zarqa, Karak, Madaba, and Mafraq host a group of poetry evenings, and the Boulevard allocates a daily space for lovers of art and folklore. Through folkloric evenings that are held throughout the days of the festival.
