Senate President Faisal Fayez and Spanish Ambassador to Jordan José Luis Pardo Cuerdo on Sunday discussed Jordanian-Spanish relations and ways to expand cooperation across various sectors.

The meeting also reviewed regional developments, including the ongoing Iran-US-Israel conflict and its implications for regional security and stability.

Talking at the meeting held at the Senate's headquarters, Fayez urged all parties to adhere to the US-Iran memorandum of understanding, describing it as a "step to ending the conflict in the region." In this context, Fayez reiterated Jordan's rejection of Iranian attacks targeting Jordan and Gulf Arab states.

He noted His Majesty King Abdullah II, through diplomatic engagements at regional and international levels, has called for clear security guarantees for Arab countries in any future settlement involving Iran.

Fayez praised the "strong" Jordanian-Spanish relations, which he said have reached "advanced" levels of coordination and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

He called for further developing ties in the economic, investment and parliamentary fields and for broader avenues of joint cooperation.

He also highlighted the extensive efforts led by King Abdullah II to promote peace and stability in the region. Fayez referred to the King's calls for creating a political horizon to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, as well as efforts to push Israel to comply with the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

For his part, Cuerdo praised the deep-rooed and robust" Jordanian-Spanish relations across all sectors.

The diplomat affirmed Spain's commitment to advancing ties in development, economic, trade and investment fields to serve the shared interests and contribute to regional security and stability.

Cuerdo also underscored Jordan's pivotal role in the region and expressed his country's appreciation for King Abdullah II's efforts to promote peace and stability.
