Amman — Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced Sunday that authorities have approved tripling the size of the "Eli" settlement, built on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.
Smotrich said on X that the Higher Planning Council will advance 763 housing units in new neighborhoods of Eli.
Israeli occupation forces launched a wave of raids and incursions before dawn Saturday across the city of Jenin and several towns and villages in the surrounding province, carrying out searches and arrests amid a heavy military presence and continuous troop movements.
Occupation forces stormed the city of Tubas with a large number of military vehicles, deploying infantry units across several neighborhoods and launching a widespread raid campaign targeting Palestinian homes.
Local sources reported that occupation forces withdrew from the city after roughly three hours, with no arrests reported.
Following their withdrawal from Tubas, occupation forces then stormed the Al-Far'a refugee camp and began a broad raid campaign targeting Palestinian homes there as well.
These developments came after two Israelis were killed and four Palestinians were killed by occupation forces' gunfire, with four others wounded — three of them critically — in the town of Tell, southwest of Nablus, following an attack by armed settlers on the town in which they assaulted residents and damaged property.
Occupation forces arrested at least 30 Palestinians before dawn Saturday during their raid on the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus.
They also arrested 13 Palestinians from villages in the Ramallah and al-Bireh area, most of them from the town of Abwein, north of the city.
