— US President Donald Trump will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday, marking their first meeting since the onset of the joint war waged by their two countries against Iran—a period marked by notable tensions in their relationship.
Relations between the two leaders reached their lowest point in April during negotiations over a cease-fire previously announced between the United States and Iran. However, that agreement completely collapsed on July 7 with the resumption of military operations between Iran and the United States, from which Israel currently remains distanced.
The war with Iran is expected to dominate the agenda of the meeting, at a time when Washington asserts its desire to give the diplomatic and negotiation track with the Islamic Republic another opportunity.
