Jordan on Friday welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of an agreement to implement the next phases of the comprehensive peace plan for the Gaza Strip, including arrangements for disarmament and the Israeli withdrawal.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs commended President Trump's leadership and the efforts that led to what it described as a historic agreement. The ministry also praised the contributions of Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, the Peace Board, and all partners whose sustained efforts helped secure the deal.

The ministry affirmed that Jordan will continue working closely with regional and international partners to implement the comprehensive peace plan, as endorsed by the UN Security Council in Resolution 2803.

Jordan stressed the importance of implementing all agreed phases within a clear and defined timeline to ensure the agreement is carried out fully and credibly.

The ministry also underscored the need for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the deployment of an international stabilization force, the unhindered delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid, and support for Gaza's reconstruction.

It further emphasized that the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza and the preservation of the unity of the occupied Palestinian territory are essential to the successful implementation of the comprehensive peace plan and to achieving lasting peace and stability.

The ministry added that the agreement should serve as a starting point for a comprehensive political process leading to the full implementation of the peace plan, guaranteeing the Palestinian people's inalienable rights, foremost among them their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution, living in peace and security alongside Israel.
