His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday received a delegation from the Arab Ministerial Committee tasked with mobilising international action in response to illegal Israeli policies and actions in occupied Jerusalem, according to a royal court statement.

During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty called for a unified Arab and Muslim stance and a joint effort to halt Israel’s unprecedented violations in Jerusalem, particularly at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, underscoring that Jordan will continue to undertake its historic and legal role in safeguarding Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the Hashemite Custodianship. The delegation included the foreign ministers of Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco, as well as the secretary general of the League of Arab States, alongside foreign ministers and representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Malaysia.

The King warned of the danger of unrest in the region being exploited to new facts on the ground in Jerusalem, noting the risk of the conflict spreading as a result of Israel’s continued escalation in the West Bank and attempts to annex land and expand settlements there.

The meeting attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty’s chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy also covered the importance of committing to the implementation of all phases of the comprehensive peace plan in Gaza.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting.
