US President Donald Trump affirmed on Tuesday that there are no ongoing or scheduled talks or dialogues with Iran.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the naval blockade on Iran remains fully in effect.
He explained that the Strait of Hormuz is open and operating, adding that all naval mines have been removed or detonated.
For his part, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and chief Iranian negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, announced on Tuesday that the strategic Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until the United States implements Iran's demands, including lifting the naval blockade on its ports.
Ghalibaf said in a speech broadcast on state television, "I want to say clearly that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until American commitments stipulated in the memorandum of understanding are fulfilled."
Trump stressed on Monday that the primary goal of the United States has been and will remain preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon in any way possible.
Trump's remarks come at a time when diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between the United States and Iran remain stalled amid disagreements between the two sides regarding reaching an understanding, coinciding with ongoing tensions related to the Strait of Hormuz.
