Paris, Berlin, Rome, and London Condemn Settlement Plan in the West Bank

Paris, Germany, Britain, and Italy on Thursday condemned Israel's plans to issue construction tenders for a residential real estate project designated "E1" in the occupied West Bank.
A joint statement by leaders of the four nations read: "The Israeli government's decision to publish tender notices for construction projects under the E1 settlement project is unacceptable."
In August, Israel gave the green light to the "E1" settlement project spanning an area of nearly 12 square kilometers in the occupied West Bank, drawing international condemnation. At the time, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that the move "threatens the viability of a fully independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state."
The project would further isolate East Jerusalem—which was occupied and annexed by Israel and is predominantly inhabited by Palestinians—from the West Bank.
The plan seeks to construct 3,400 settlement units in the West Bank, a project that would sever the West Bank into two halves and preclude the establishment of a prospective Palestinian state.
The latest tender encompasses over 1,200 residential units, according to the Israeli non-governmental organization Peace Now.
The organization stated that the Israeli Ministry of Housing issued the tender on August 18 and immediately opened the submission of bids.
