Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Tuesday that Israeli authorities commenced the evacuation of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) compound in Kufr 'Aqab, north of Jerusalem, in accordance with the law and under his direct orders.
Netanyahu asserted that Israel would not permit an organization whose personnel were allegedly involved in "terrorism and the October 7 attack" to continue operating within Israel, emphasizing that his government is taking action against the agency using all available measures.
His remarks followed Israeli forces forcibly evacuating the UNRWA-run Kalandia Training Center in Kufr 'Aqab, seizing control of the facility, and raising the Israeli flag in its courtyard.
The takeover occurred just one day after a delegation representing 28 international diplomatic missions visited the vocational training center to observe firsthand the threats and violations targeting the UN agency.
Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir spearheaded the raid on the center. Following the operation, Ben-Gvir issued statements denying any UNRWA presence in Jerusalem or Israel—a move reflecting a continuation of systematic political incitement against the UN agency and an attempt to enforce unilateral decisions against it.
