The Arab Group at the United Nations warned on Thursday against escalating Israeli actions in the West Bank and ongoing attempts to undermine roadmap efforts for Gaza.
In an official statement delivered by Qatar's Permanent Representative to the UN, Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani, during the Security Council’s monthly debate on "The Situation in the Middle East, Including the Palestinian Question," the group rejected all measures aimed at entrenching occupation and imposing Israeli sovereignty over Palestinian land.
The group strongly condemned illegal Israeli settlement expansion across the Occupied Palestinian Territory and voiced total rejection of the "E1" settlement plan alongside related colonial activities east of occupied Jerusalem.
The statement emphasized that the E1 project constitutes a direct violation of international law, UN Security Council Resolution 2334, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice. The group called on the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities by ensuring compliance with international law and implementing relevant resolutions, stressing that the Palestinian cause remains central to Middle East peace.
The Arab Group reaffirmed that a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace cannot be achieved without ending the Israeli occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights—chief among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
