The southern front of Lebanon is experiencing a sharp military escalation centered around the city of Nabatieh and the strategic Ali Al-Taher heights. Intense Israeli airstrikes and concentrated artillery bombardment have raised concerns that current operations extend beyond routine exchanges of fire, pointing toward a broader effort to redraw the region's security footprint.
The targeted strikes and military isolation around Nabatieh are widely viewed by observers as logistical and firepower preparations for a potential ground offensive aimed at securing control over Ali Al-Taher. Located north of the Litani River at an elevation of approximately 600 meters above sea level, the strategic ridge provides direct tactical oversight and fire control over Nabatieh, Iqlim al-Tuffah, Jabal al-Rihan, and key sectors of the eastern South and Western Beqaa.
Lebanese sources told Erem News that gaining control over the ridge offers superior command over regional firepower and logistics monitoring. This strategic value explains the recent heavy bombardment targeting the forests of Ali Al-Taher, Dabsha Hill, Nabatieh al-Faouqa, and Douhar Kfar Remman. Historically, the ridge served as one of the most heavily fortified military positions occupied by the Israeli army following the 1982 invasion—alongside Beaufort Castle—and was among the final posts vacated during the 2000 withdrawal.
