In an official statement published by state media, Tehran announced it will pursue both diplomatic and defense tracks simultaneously, while prioritizing domestic economic measures aimed at curbing inflation, generating employment, bolstering local manufacturing, and incrementally phasing out reliance on the U.S. dollar.
​The statement follows a new round of U.S. sanctions issued on Friday targeting a Hong Kong-based entity and an individual affiliated with Bank Melli Iran. The U.S. Department of the Treasury is also preparing to sever the UAE branches of Bank Misr from the American financial system, alongside newly instituted restrictions on an Egyptian financial institution over alleged transactions with Tehran, following recent warnings from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding intensified financial pressure amid the ongoing war.
​Reiterating Tehran’s posture, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Friday via the X platform that restoring diplomatic channels remains viable, provided Washington recognizes that coercion is ineffective. Araghchi emphasized that the United States must build trust, adopt a respectful tone, honor its international commitments, and explicitly recognize Iran's sovereign rights to facilitate any meaningful diplomatic progress.
