Syria has been selected as the guest of honor for the 25th edition of the Amman International Book Fair 2026, which is set to launch on September 24 at the Jordan Center for International Exhibitions in Amman and will run until October 4.
Minister of Culture Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh stated that the selection of the Syrian Arab Republic as the guest of honor for the 25th Amman International Book Fair comes in recognition of its cherished place in the hearts of Jordanians and its ancient cultural history, rich with creativity and heritage.
In a post on the X platform, Al-Rawashdeh added that choosing Syria as the guest of honor simultaneously reaffirms Jordan's position as an incubator for Arab creativity and an important hub for cultural industries—foremost among them the publishing industry, which represents a bridge for civilizational communication and a space for human knowledge.
The President of the Union of Jordanian Publishers and Director of the Amman International Book Fair, Jaber Abu Fares, stated that the upcoming edition holds special significance as a historical milestone in the fair's journey. He described it as an occasion to celebrate a quarter-century of continuous cultural work that has contributed to strengthening the publishing industry and expanding horizons of cooperation between publishers and cultural institutions locally, regionally, and internationally.
He added that the fair continues its mission to support the book and publishing industry by providing a suitable environment for publishers, authors, and distributors. It also offers readers the opportunity to explore the latest Arab and foreign publications, thereby contributing to revitalizing the cultural movement, encouraging reading, and disseminating knowledge.
The 25th edition is expected to help boost the cultural, tourism, and economic movement in the Kingdom by attracting thousands of visitors and cultural enthusiasts from both inside and outside Jordan, further consolidating Amman's status as an Arab cultural destination that brings together bookmakers, intellectuals, and the public under one roof.
