Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz slowed this week after Iran threatened on Monday to retaliate against any new US attacks.
​Data from Kpler showed on Tuesday that the number of cargo ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz dropped to seven ships on Monday, compared to eight ships on the previous day.
​Iran had warned that energy infrastructure across the Gulf region is vulnerable, including United States interests in the oil and gas sector.
​Goldman Sachs also raised its price forecasts for Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for December 2026 and for 2027, expecting Middle East shipping disruptions to persist into next year.
​However, traffic increased through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, another major waterway for cargo ships.
​Kpler data showed a total of 29 commodity vessels passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait yesterday, Monday, up from 17 vessels on the previous day.
​Some vessels may pass through the two straits with their transponders turned off, making them excluded from the statistics.
