Iraqi authorities have discovered drone launch pads near the border with Iran, according to two Iraqi security sources speaking on Saturday, following a drone attack that targeted a pipeline in Saudi Arabia.
A security source stated: "Security forces found drone launchers near the Iraqi-Iranian border in the remote Al-Tib area in southern Maysan Governorate." A second security source confirmed these details.
Iraq closed three border crossings with Iran, officials reported Saturday, following the drone attack targeting a pipeline in Saudi Arabia, which both Riyadh and Baghdad stated originated from Iraqi territory.
The closed crossings include Shalamcheh in Basra Governorate, Al-Sheeb in Maysan, and Mandali crossing in Diyala Governorate, while the remaining border crossings remain open.
Meanwhile, Iraq agreed on Saturday to an Iranian request to conduct a joint investigation regarding the discovery of drone launch pads near the Iraqi-Iranian border.
On Friday, the Iraqi government condemned the attacks that targeted Saudi Arabia, affirming its rejection of any assault that infringes upon the Kingdom's security and stability.
