American billionaire Elon Musk renewed his warnings regarding the dangers of artificial intelligence, emphasizing that it could be more dangerous than nuclear weapons—reiterating a stance he first expressed more than a decade ago, according to Russia's Sputnik news agency.
Musk recalled a post he wrote in 2014 warning that AI "may be more dangerous than nukes," recently commenting on it: "12 years ago."
This came after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called on Saturday for slowing down the development of the most powerful AI models due to safety concerns, a proposal Musk subsequently endorsed.
In the same context, Anthropic researcher Jacob Cookson announced his departure from the AI sector, expressing concerns that the accelerating race among tech companies is pushing the world toward a "point of no return," potentially reaching a catastrophic scenario by the end of 2027.
Warnings are mounting over the consequences of rapid AI development across various fields. A group of 25 mathematicians, including recipients of the prestigious Fields Medal, declared that using AI to solve mathematical problems harms mathematics and the mathematical community.
In a statement published on the "Mathematics and AI" website, the scholars stated that the AI industry's push to make solving math problems a benchmark for evaluating model capabilities "harms mathematics and the mathematical community," pointing to a fundamental conflict between the objectives of AI companies and those of the mathematical community.
