In an awareness post on its official page titled "A Phone in Installments... or a Fraudulent Trap?", the Public Security Directorate issued warnings regarding fraudulent methods that exploit enticing offers for selling cell phones in installments.
The Directorate emphasized the importance of exercising caution and prudence before transferring any sums of money or dealing with untrusted entities.
The Directorate reviewed the story of a victim who was initially lured via a message containing an enticing offer, which ultimately ended with the loss of their money.
The Public Security Directorate called on citizens not to be led astray by seemingly attractive offers, to verify the identity and credibility of the advertising entity, and to refrain from sending money or personal and financial data before confirming the safety of the transaction.
It affirmed that awareness of electronic fraud methods and verifying offers prior to dealing with them represent the first line of defense in protecting citizens from falling victim to these practices.
