The U.S. military is actively preparing options to conduct potential strikes against Iran, coinciding with the deployment of an additional aircraft carrier to the Middle East amid growing concerns over renewed regional confrontation, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Citing informed officials, the newspaper reported that Israel has provided the U.S. defense leadership with a proposed list of potential targets inside Iran, backed by intelligence assessments.
White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly stated that the United States will not attack Iran prior to the upcoming midterm elections scheduled for November 3. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump warned on Sunday that the United States and Israel will "finish the job soon" unless Tehran swiftly alters its regional behavior.
According to military officials, two U.S. carrier strike groups are currently stationed in the Middle East, with a third group transiting from the Pacific toward the region, though final deployment durations remain unconfirmed.
