Dr. Yacoub Nasser Al-Din, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Middle East University (MEU), met with the President of the Chambers of Industry of Jordan and Amman, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of University President Prof. Dr. Salam Al-Mahadin. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for building an applied partnership that harnesses scientific research to address challenges facing the industrial sector, aligning with national priorities and bridging the gap between educational outcomes, industrial needs, and labor market requirements to foster talent and promote innovation and development.
Eng. Al-Jaghbir expressed the chambers' readiness to advance an applied cooperation model with the university, emphasizing the importance of providing students with direct exposure to work environments and granting them access to the expertise of business leaders and industrialists. This approach enhances students' professional readiness and deepens their understanding of the industrial sector's requirements and essential skills.
He underscored the significance of building bridges of trust and collaboration between industry and academic institutions, noting that national industry has repeatedly demonstrated its resilience in adapting to crises and expanding production capabilities. He added that the Chambers of Industry of Jordan and Amman are actively working to align educational outcomes with practical industry needs through specialized vocational training programs and by linking graduates with industrial facilities to narrow the gap between academic qualifications and required practical skills.
For his part, Dr. Nasser Al-Din stressed that rapid global transformations necessitate integrated efforts among national educational institutions. He highlighted the importance of establishing a practical cooperative framework that serves the national interest by transforming academic research and theses into targeted projects implemented in coordination with relevant industrial entities, affirming the university's commitment to translating the memorandum of understanding into tangible executive steps.
Regarding future foresight, Dr. Nasser Al-Din noted that the university has decided to establish a dedicated foresight unit to serve as a catalyst for data-driven strategic planning, inviting the industrial sector to partner in anticipating future challenges and opportunities.
In her remarks, Prof. Al-Mahadin explained that the meeting aims to open horizons for collaboration that direct scientific research toward the industrial sector, reinforcing confidence in the ability of students and faculty members to innovate solutions for industry challenges. She pointed out that MEU offers nearly 40 academic specialties whose knowledge base and expertise can be leveraged to tackle practical challenges through high-quality applied research projects aligned with labor market demands—particularly at a time when the modern job market increasingly prioritizes practical skills over traditional credentials.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Anis Al-Mansour, Director of the Innovation and Career Development Center at the University, noted that the center empowers students by connecting their projects to real-world community needs, alongside developing business incubators and preparing for the launch of a dedicated innovation platform.
These initiatives form part of a broader drive to institutionalize a collaborative model positioning the university as an active partner in advancing national industry through targeted research, practical student training, and partnerships rooted in real-world challenges and clear priorities, ultimately boosting the competitiveness of Jordanian products and linking knowledge investments to tangible economic and societal impacts.
The event featured the launch of professional training diplomas designed to qualify students for the job market, with the participation of over 300 students, followed by a tour of the university's campus and facilities.
