Orange Jordan hosted the closing ceremony of the "Private Sector Access to Support Startups" (PASS) program, which supported 130 male and female entrepreneurs to enhance their businesses and improve their readiness for further growth.
The program was implemented in partnership with the "Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment" (E4DE) project. It provided participating entrepreneurs with specialized training, mentorship, and guidance tailored to their individual needs, business nature, and different stages of growth.
The PASS program operates within the E4DE project, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. It is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, alongside representatives from Orange Jordan, GIZ, the private sector, and a number of mentors who guided the participating entrepreneurs during the training program.
Over the course of a year, the PASS program worked to support entrepreneurs in developing their skills, addressing business challenges, and preparing their companies for growth. The goal was to assist participating businesses in increasing sales, improving productivity, and boosting competitiveness by offering practical support based on each company's needs and aligned with labor market requirements.
The impact of the program extended across several governorates, including Irbid, Jerash, Mafraq, Karak, Aqaba, and the capital, Amman. This expansion reflects Orange Jordan's efforts to build a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem, develop skills, and provide direct communication channels with mentors, demonstrating the company's firm commitment to sustaining this journey and strengthening its strategic partnerships.
Orange Jordan affirmed that this step is an extension of its efforts to turn ideas into concrete reality that serves the community as well as national economic and digital goals. The company seeks to contribute to these goals through its responsible and effective programs, such as BIG by Orange under the Orange Digital Center, believing that developing the entrepreneurship ecosystem and empowering youth with necessary training and guidance enhances their capabilities and opens new horizons for growth.
For its part, GIZ noted that the PASS program demonstrates the importance of linking tailored business support with sustainable mentorship and private sector engagement. GIZ will maintain this approach beyond the program by offering entrepreneurs continuous opportunities to connect with experts and enhancing the private sector's role in Jordan's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The program recently concluded specialized training for more than 85 experts and specialists in entrepreneurship to enable them to effectively serve as mentors. The training covered understanding mentorship responsibilities, avoiding key challenges, developing communication skills, asking questions, active listening, providing feedback, and building trust with beneficiaries.
It is worth noting that the E4DE project is one of the projects under the National Entrepreneurship Policy, which was approved in 2022 and extended through 2027 to support entrepreneurs and startups while strengthening the Kingdom's entrepreneurship ecosystem. Through this policy, the ministry works with its partners to support companies at various stages—from idea and inception to growth and expansion—across several pillars, including capacity building, facilitating access to finance and markets, promoting an entrepreneurial culture, and improving the enabling environment for business growth.
