AMMAN
Nothing is more painful for the nation than losing one of its sons while standing in the field of honor, performing his sacred duty in protecting citizens' security and safeguarding the country's stability. Nothing is harsher than having the hand of terrorism and treachery reach out to men who dedicated themselves so that Jordan remains safe and reassured, and our homes remain filled with life and security.
The cowardly terrorist attack that targeted two Public Security personnel in the capital, Amman, resulting in the martyrdom of Corporal Jwad Ali Khalaf Al-Salayta and the injury of his colleague, comes to confirm once again that terrorism has no religion, no homeland, and no ethics. It demonstrates that extremist ideology, no matter how its faces and methods change, carries nothing but hatred, destruction, and assault on the lives of the innocent.
The stance of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein was decisive and clear in affirming that Jordan will not allow anyone to threaten the Kingdom's security or harm its citizens, and that there will be no compromise in fighting terrorism and extremism. It is a position that reflects the firm bedrock of the Jordanian state in protecting its security and stability, and confronting anyone who dares to tamper with the homeland's security or assault its people.
The martyr Jwad Al-Salayta is not only the son of the noble Al-Salayta tribe, but the son of all Jordan. He is the son of every Jordanian home, a brother to every Jordanian, and a pain in the heart of every mother and father who know what it means for a son to go out to perform his duty, carrying his soul in his hand to protect the lives of others.
Today, as we offer condolences to ourselves before offering them to the honorable Al-Salayta tribe, we realize that the tragedy is not that of a family or a tribe alone, but the tragedy of an entire nation that has lost one of its loyal men who embodied the highest meanings of sacrifice and redemption.
The men of our security agencies and armed forces are not merely institutions carrying out tasks; they are the sons of this people—from our homes, families, and tribes—standing in positions of danger so that we may live in positions of safety. They stay awake while we sleep, advance toward danger when others move away, and offer the most precious thing they possess in defense of a homeland that deserves every sacrifice.
Hence, loyalty to the martyrs is not through words alone, but by strengthening our national unity, solidifying the values of moderation and tolerance, rejecting hate speech and incitement, and standing united behind state institutions and security agencies in confronting every extremist ideology that threatens community security and the future of its generations.
Let the advocates of terrorism and extremism know that Jordan—with its wise Hashemite leadership, brave armed forces and security agencies, the awareness of its people, and the cohesion of its internal front—will remain impervious to attempts at tampering and chaos. Experiences have proven that this homeland grows more cohesive in the face of adversity, and that the blood of its martyrs only increases its sons' determination to protect its land and safeguard its dignity.
Fighting terrorism is not the responsibility of the security agencies alone, but a shared national, moral, and societal responsibility that begins in the family, school, university, mosque, and media, extending to every institution and citizen who believes that moderation, awareness, and the rule of law are the true fortress against extremism.
Today, as we bid farewell to the martyr of duty, Corporal Jwad Ali Khalaf Al-Salayta, we bow in reverence to his sacrifice, raise our heads in pride for the men of Public Security, and affirm that the blood of the nation's martyrs will remain a trust in all our necks, and that their sacrifices will remain present in the conscience and national memory of Jordanians.
May God have mercy on the martyr of the nation and duty, inspire his family, relatives, and noble tribe with patience and solace, grant his injured colleague a speedy recovery, and preserve the brave men of our armed forces and security agencies, who write every day with silence and sacrifice new pages of loyalty and belonging.
Jordan will remain larger than all attempts at terrorism, stronger than all advocates of sedition, and higher than all dark ideology.
May God preserve Jordan safe, cherished, and towering, preserve His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and preserve our authentic Jordanian people.
May God have mercy on all the nation's martyrs, and our motto will remain an unchangeable pledge: God... The Homeland... The King.
