Syria insists on broadcasting non-positive messages towards the Kingdom, through the portal of pretending to cooperate regarding the security situation on the common borders between the two countries, specifically in the drug file. I say “pretend to cooperate,” because until today, the security meetings between Amman and Damascus did not produce any results in this regard, and the only achievement was through our warplanes when they carried out an operation targeting a major drug dealer inside Syria. Damascus knows very well that Jordan has many options to put an end to it

For this farce that threatens our security, despite the Jordanian diplomacy that strives to put pressure on the Syrian regime, this has not yielded its fruits until today as a result of the Syrian cleverness, but Jordan will not stand idly by in the face of what Syria is doing in terms of fighting drug dens and its dealers.

The nature of the relationship that exists today between the two parties with regard to the fight against drugs is revealed by many facts, one of which I will mention here, as the information I have says that Amman handed over to Damascus some time ago the names of four people who are major drug dealers to take security measures against them, and eliminate their dangerous border operations, However, the latter did not bother to help in this aspect, and forgot the Jordanian request as if it had not happened, while these people are still working completely freely under the hearing and sight of Syria, which turns a blind eye to them completely.

In a similar context, Jordan has been waiting for one million cubic meters of water from Syria for more than two years, while Damascus has been stalling in implementing this despite the bilateral agreement on the quantity. Procrastination for this long period reflects nothing but Syrian intransigence that can never be interpreted in a positive way, especially after the statements of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Sky News, and his assertion that the war on drugs is not his war, justifying that by not creating it in the first place, and that whoever created it must bear responsibility.

An uncomfortable message from the Syrian president, which is not subject to any explanation or interpretation. However, refuting al-Assad's statements will lead us to misleading and incorrect information, as all reports around the world say that the drug trade is carried out under official sponsorship, and that it has effectively contributed to financing the regime's war during the past years. However, what is already apparent from this war is that many of the names of the so-called “drug lords” are linked in one way or another to the regime and its symbols, which leads us to the fact that official Syria is behind this immoral trade

The Kingdom places a lot of burdens in order to ensure the security and stability of the state, but what is happening inside Syria close to our borders makes it very difficult to wait for a long time for Damascus to decide to act, if it was thinking of doing so at all. Logic says that if she wanted to put an end to what is happening on the border, she would have done so a long time ago

The Syrian regime does not want to solve the refugee problem, nor does it think about it, just as it does not want an agreement on the water situation and the activation of the prior agreement between Jordan and Syria, and it is also unable to put an end to the Iranian militias that are infiltrating Syria and increasing their influence and spread on the borders with the Kingdom, in addition to His lack of positive interaction with regard to smuggling drugs and weapons

, the reality of the Syrian position, and the danger it poses to neighboring countries, specifically Jordan, puts us before the responsibility of securing our borders that extend to about 378 kilometers, which is very difficult due to its need for huge military personnel and numerous mechanisms that need A lot of money.

We do not know what Jordan is thinking to confront the continuity of the Syrian students with regard to the main and important files related to the Kingdom. However, despite the great challenges, we believe in the absolute ability of our agencies to protect the borders from any form of threat or tampering.
