The number of bounced checks decreased in Jordan during August by 26.4%

The number of checks in circulation in Jordan from the beginning of this year until the end of August reached 4.4 million checks, with a value of 26.4 billion Jordanian dinars, according to what was monitored by the Jordanian Payment and Clearing Systems Company (JoPACC).

According to statistics collected by Jobak, the number of returned checks in Jordan decreased by 26.4% last August, compared to the previous month, as it reached 17.7 thousand checks last month, compared to 24 thousand checks in July.


The value of returned checks for August of the current year amounted to 100 million dinars, compared to 135 million dinars in July of the same year, a decrease of 25.7%.

The statistics added that 11,034 returned checks worth 56.83 million Jordanian dinars in August were for financial reasons, while more than 6.6 thousand checks worth 34.4 million dinars were for technical reasons, as the percentage of checks returned for financial reasons reached 62.4%, compared to 37.6% for technical reasons.

During last August, the number of checks in circulation in Jordan reached 603,000 checks, compared to 654,000 checks in the previous July, a decrease of 7.7%.

The value of checks traded during the month of August amounted to 3.68 billion Jordanian dinars, compared to 3.75 billion dinars in July of the same year, a decrease of 1.9%.
