The Arab Potash Company announced today that it has exported the largest shipment of red granular potash in its history, as the ship (MV “Westport Eagle”) was loaded with an amount of (56,800) tons to Brazil.
The export of this shipment coincides with the start of experimental production operations in the new granular potash factory, which will be officially opened soon, which will contribute to raising the company’s production capacity of granular potash from (500) thousand tons to (1.2) million tons annually.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Potash Company, Eng. Shehadeh Abu Hadeeb, expressed his pride in this step, which is the result of the company’s tireless efforts to expand and grow through investing in technology and innovation, developing new products and varieties, and opening non-traditional markets, stressing that “Arab Potash” is moving with steady steps. It is thoughtful to expand the reach of its diverse and high-quality products to various global markets, in implementation of its strategies aimed at growth and maximizing returns through product diversification and positioning in markets with high price returns.
Engineer Abu Hadeeb pointed out that the new granular potash plant represents a qualitative leap in the journey of the Arab Potash Company, as it will allow it to access new markets and enhance its competitiveness at the global level, stressing that the company will continue its endeavor to enhance its leading position in the production and export of potash in the world.
Engineer Abu Hadeeb stated that the entry of the Arab Potash Company’s exports into the Brazilian market increased the volume of Jordanian exports and had a positive impact on the trade balance, pointing out that the company is committed to enhancing global market supplies of potash as it is an essential element in ensuring the availability of grains and agricultural products to users. End-users and customers, in a way that enhances global food security, especially in light of the geopolitical challenges facing the world.
For his part, the CEO of the Arab Potash Company, Dr. Maan Al-Nsour, explained that the red granular potash helped the company enter major new markets, most notably; The Brazilian market, which consumes more than (12) million tons annually, is considered an important market within the global markets consuming potash, supported by agricultural industries that have a major role in achieving global food security.
Dr. Al-Nsour added that red granular potash is exported to other strategic markets, such as the American market, the Australian market, the markets of Thailand, and Vietnam, pointing out that the consumption of red granular potash constitutes more than (35%) of the total potash consumption in the world.
Dr. Al-Nsour pointed out that the traditional markets in which the Arab Potash Company was present during the previous decades are currently witnessing intense price competition due to the change that has occurred in the paths of global potash trade in light of the continuing geopolitical turmoil in the Black Sea and the sanctions imposed on major potash-producing countries and companies.
Dr. Al-Nsour explained that the Arab Potash Company produced and sold new varieties of potash in 2023 with special chemical and physical compositions to meet the needs of customers in new markets and expand the company’s customer base, noting that the company also developed new logistical solutions that included using major ports in Europe to transport potash exports. To other ports; And using these ports as distribution centers, which contributed to reaching a larger number of customers.
It should be noted that in February 2023, the Arab Potash Company opened a representative office in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, with the aim of increasing its sales of red granular potash for this important market, which is expected to witness growth in the future, as the company’s sales are expected to reach To Brazil during the year 2024 to about (450) thousand tons, compared to less than (50) thousand tons before 2020.
