The Council of Ministers, in its session held today, Sunday, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh, approved the draft general amnesty law for the year 2024, and referred it to the National Assembly as a matter of urgency. To be approved in accordance with constitutional principles.
The draft law comes in compliance with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to the government to prepare a draft law for general amnesty and implement its constitutional procedures. This is on the occasion of the silver jubilee of His Majesty the King assuming his constitutional powers and His Majesty ascending the throne.
The draft law, in accordance with the Royal Directives, takes into account the public interest, preserves personal and civil rights in accordance with the principles of justice and the rule of law, and does not conflict with the requirements of national security and societal peace.
It also provides the opportunity for those who have committed some crimes to return to reform themselves, begin a new life based on integrity, reintegrate them into society, and bring joy to the souls of their families.
On the other hand, the Council of Ministers approved the e-learning system in school educational institutions for the year 2024. This is to integrate e-learning into educational institutions, provide an educational educational environment that serves the learner and society, and to ensure the continuation of education in educational institutions in exceptional emergency situations that prevent teachers and students from reaching their schools, and to enhance the use of technology in society and employ modern technologies in the service of educational work.
The Council also approved the scholarship system for children of teachers in the Ministry of Education for the year 2024. With the aim of expanding the category of beneficiaries of the children of teachers in the Ministry of Education from the provisions of this system; Through studying in university colleges and intermediate university colleges in official Jordanian universities at the Ministry’s expense, and encouraging students who are teachers’ children to move toward professional and technical specializations.
On another level, the Council of Ministers decided to approve the National Strategy to Combat Tobacco and Smoking in All Its Forms for the years (2024-2030), and the National Action Plan for the years (2024-2026) emerging from it, which aims to reduce smoking and protect against its harm to society.
The Council also decided to approve the recommendations of the Committee for Settlement of Outstanding Issues between taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department, to settle the tax situations of (455) companies and taxpayers who incurred obligations in accordance with the provisions of the Income Tax Law and the General Sales Tax Law.
He also decided to approve the recommendations of the Committee to Consider Pending Claims between taxpayers and/or violators, and the Jordanian Customs Department, to settle (22) cases for taxpayers and violators, provided that they commit to paying the full amounts remaining on them, along with any fees, taxes, or expenses, within a period of two months from the date of Issuance of this decision.
