A high-level international conference on resolving the Palestinian issue through peaceful means and implementing the two-state solution kicks off Monday in New York.

The conference, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, includes participation from 123 countries, including Jordan, alongside international and regional organisations concerned with the Middle East peace process.

Jordan is represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi. The conference runs through 30 July.

Attendees include UN member states, specialised UN agencies, international and regional organisations, and civil society groups. Palestine is represented by Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa.

According to the organisers’ concept note, the conference aims to mobilise momentum for the Palestinian cause by building on national, regional, and international initiatives and adopting concrete measures to promote respect for international law and achieve a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace that ensures security for all.
