The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Al-Safadi, adjourned the legislative session before it convened.
The House of Representatives was to discuss in the session the decision of the Economy and Investment Committee No. (5) dated February 19, 2023, which includes a draft law amending the Companies Law for the year 2022.
The Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee approved a number of articles of the Companies Law for the year 2022.
Its chairman, Representative Omar al-Naber, said that the committee continued to discuss the draft law, and approved a number of articles after making the necessary amendments to them.
He explained that the draft law aims to facilitate and simplify procedures related to corporate business, which reduces time and saves effort and costs for partners and shareholders in companies, and contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the business environment in the Kingdom.
Al-Naber added that the “company rate” stimulates the registration of companies and foreign investments in them, and ensures the stability of legislation related to venture capital companies, which stimulates the registration of this type of company that contributes to advancing economic development and supports emerging, small and medium companies, and achieves harmony with legislation related to doing business. Including insolvency and securities laws.
