Youth Minister Raed Sami Adwan on Thursday launched ‘Amman Arab Youth Capital 2025’ futsal championship from Jerash, with 724 teams and 8,688 participants including players, coaches and administrators from across the Kingdom.
Opening ceremony was attended by Jerash Governor Malek Khreisat, Youth Ministry Secretary-General Mazen Abu Beqar, Jerash Greater Municipality Committee head, MPs, provincial council members, club presidents, Jerash Chamber of Commerce head, representatives of state institutions, security agencies and local community.
Adwan said the tournament is a national sports celebration that highlights unity across governorates and districts, adding that pride is doubled by the national football team’s qualification to the World Cup. He stressed that sports embody discipline, belonging and challenge, and that royal support from King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein provides the main driver for such initiatives.
Khreisat welcomed hosting the event, noting that the championship reflects Amman’s Arab role in embracing youth energies and aspirations. He said sport and youth embody Jordan’s spirit of loyalty and strength, likening Jordanians’ loyalty to the Hashemite family to Jerash’s enduring Roman columns.
The launch ceremony featured Jordanian folkloric performances by Jerash Girls Troupe, adding a national heritage flavour appreciated by the audience.
