Amman – Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan stressed the need to intensify efforts and diversify Petra’s tourism offerings to revive the city’s visitor momentum.
During a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Petra Development and Tourism Authority, Hassan highlighted the importance of developing tourism products that reflect the true image of Jordan and its people.
He emphasized linking Petra and its sites with nearby tourist routes, such as Shoubak Castle and Dana Biosphere Reserve, to boost local development and strengthen national tourism.
Hassan also called for hosting high-value promotional events in Petra and encouraging tourism establishments to organise them, noting their role in attracting visitors, ensuring hotel occupancy, and generating significant economic returns.
He affirmed that the rule of law is fundamental, and a clear framework must be established for all stakeholders to ensure benefits for the local community and positive impacts on the tourism sector.
